Nine reasons why I stan Brooklyn Nine-Nine

5 min readSep 20, 2021

It was some months back; I started watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It was a fun space for me to forget my thoughts and get lost in their world. With this, season eight got released, and the series has completed its journey to a pleasant end.

Here I tell you, if you haven’t already watched this series, I won’t say you are losing something, but it’s definitely worth your time and money if you are paying for it.

Still not convinced? I will tell you why to watch this series.

1. Halloween Heists

One of the most intriguing episodes Nine-Nine has is Halloween Heists. Where the one winner gets crowned as “an amazing human/genius”.

Everyone crosses the limits to win the tag, be it planning from a year ago to betraying their partner. Things get crazy here. Yet, we didn’t get our official two times winner, or did we?

You find yourself out.

2. Jimmy jabs

It is the most happening game in the Nine-Nine. Oh, I wish for a workplace like this.

The game starts with burning down a ceremonial bagel, and Scully’s I don’t know, whatever he does as the flaming bagel goes into the dustbin. The game gets followed by events, each loser in the events gets eliminated and the final two remain for the last round.

Then who wins? Who lets who win?

Well, I can’t spoil everything here right.

Jimmy jabs!!

3. Jake-Dough or Jake-Charles.

We all know Charles ‘the one true Boyle’ and Jake are best buddies. They both agree and rejoice in their friendship, where Charles can be a little too obsessed with Jake sometimes, but we love them. As Charles can’t stand anyone friends with Jake, there’s an exception.

There’s Jake and Judy. It’s a treat to see this duo on the screen every time. From Jake chasing Judy to Jake loving Judy. It’s a ride to watch.

Sad that we didn’t get to see more of Charles and Jake and Judy together.

4. Rosa, Gina and Amy.

An absolute lovelies in the Nine-Nine, however, you wouldn’t want to mess with.

Rosa, a total badass, tough on the outside and a sweetheart on the inside. She doesn’t care most of the time, but when she does, watch out. Count the number of things she’s done, I aspire to be her, plus love her bike.

Gina, this flawless human, is a complete narcissist, confident, blunt, and exceptional. She is mean, obsessed with herself, but also gets things done and does care for her people. I wasn’t a fan of Gina right away, but she does know how to get people to follow her.

Amy, our queen, a teacher’s pet and one of the best detectives in the Nine-Nine, proves it as she becomes the chief by the end and she deserves it.

Also, how many drinks Amy do you root for?

5. Hitchcock and Scully.

These disgusting duo of Nine-Nine, also good at paperwork, make their entire world with themselves and happy in their life with food. I adore how comfortable they are with themselves and don’t care about the rest.

Also, what happened to them was Chicken Wings. When Hitchcock said, What the hell, one wing can’t hurt. Little did they know.

And the rest is history.

6. Holt, the father figure.

There are several times Jake and Amy have called Cap dad, and honestly, Holt is the Dad of Nine-Nine. Starting with season 1 to the last season 8 Holt of everything is the better father figure to each individual in the precinct. And the team being kids, mimicking, irritate and seek his mentorship when needed, it’s a delight to watch them.

Then there comes the second dad, Kevin. Though he isn’t the primary character, yet an honorary mention as Holt’s dadship without Kevin is incomplete.

7. Holt and Amy, the nerds unit.

One thing to mention in the Nine-Nine is the better representation of nerds.

Holt and Amy are the absolute nerds, not the typical ones with low self-esteem and being picked on, but the proud ones comfortable showing off their knowledge. From Holt correcting Jake’s grammar to Amy being 3 minutes late because she was in the bank, all have a fan base of their own. Love it when their respective partners adore their little brains.

And it makes me want to conjure all the knowledge in the world.

8. Terry loves yogurt.

Terry Jeffords, also the Ebony Falcon is the most happening hunk in the Nine-Nine, and his only indulgence is fresh fruit yogurt parfaits. It’s simply delightful to watch this yogurt eating hunk be so soft and considerate of his girls, his love for love, and so on. And I understand Gina’s crush on him.

Terry loves yoghurt, and I love Terry.

9. Peraltiago.

Last but not least.

Peraltiago. Started off as rivals, their stupid bet, Amy losing to finally going on the worst date ever with Jake where she flirted like three seconds and Jake being head over heels for her.

One thing to love in their relationship is how both of them are supportive of each other. Jake’s childishness and Amy’s most responsible nature both complement each other well and do not let overpower one another.

One is proud of the other’s victory and sacrificing something close to their heart to be together. Peraltiago is a relationship goal.

These are some small mentions from the series and what I adore personally about the show. Nine-Nine is full of laughs, a show to keep you wanting more. With this, I recommend the show again, as I don’t want you to miss it.

Nine-Nine.
